The first two photos are from the PSU Rugby Club practicing in the field across from the Tech Center. The others are portraits taken in the Tech Center photo studio. This was for a class experiment in lighting using one ordinary light bulb in an aluminum reflector.
i like to set my aperture to 2.8 for shallow depth of field and my shutter to 1/250 for sports photos. The sun was bright for the shot of the runner, so I adjusted my shutter to 1/5000, and the ISO at 400 For the second Rugby photo the sun was setting. I left the aperture at 2.8, lowered my shutter to 1/1600, and lowered my ISO to 1/125. The studio portraits were interesting. I set my aperture at 3.5. I left the ISO at 640, and adjusted my shutter speed as the light changed. From top to bottom...1/320, 1/60, 1/80, 1/100. It was not ideal lighting to say the least, but it was fun giving it a try.
the final image is definitely my favorite of this set. I really like how there is absolutely nothing of her face beyond the highlight created by the lights. (I promise I don't mean that house sounds) I think the fact that the shadows are super black makes this image.

I find the side lighting of the last picture very pleasing. It isn't real drastic but enough to identify the person...Nice.
